Abstract: The paper is focused on the evaluation of development of the Chinese agrarian sector
and the subsequent expression of the relationship between agricultural development
and rural livelihood. The characterization of processes is related to this issue, especially
in the area of economic development and agriculture. Development trends of
the Chinese primary sector are explored and individual sectoral changes are evaluated
to deal with the construction of a composite indicator, which makes it possible
to define relatively the level of the individual provinces of China, both in terms of
rural livelihoods and in terms of agricultural development.
