The rise of the Slovak Agricultural Library (SlPK) in Nitra is closely connected with the establishment of the University of Agricultural and Forestry Engineering (VSPLI) in Kosice in 1946. In 1951, it was termed the Central Agricultural Library, becoming the first central special library in the Slovak Republic.
Library has been the central library of the Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra since 1960. Nowadays it fulfils two primary functions - it is special scientific library and university library.

All the Library documents are at the registered users disposal, but there are some restrictions concerned to periodicals, diploma theses, dissertations, etc. These documents can be studied at the studying rooms only. There are two studying rooms at the Library - Studying Room for Periodicals and Textbooks (Slovak Agricultural University campus, Tr. A. Hlinku 2) and smaller General Studying Room (Sturova 51).
